From Humble Beginnings to Big Happenings

Founded over 100 years ago in 1915, brothers-in-law John F. Schaefer and Claude E. Hart grew their tire repair business and purchased The Giant Tire & Rubber Company in Akron, Ohio.

From there, Ira J. Cooper developed what’s known as the Cooper Creed — something Cooper Tire still lives by today — which emphasizes the “why” behind the “what” of their business: “Good merchandise, fair play, and a square deal.”

Where Are Cooper Tires Made?

Cooper Tire has plants in Findlay, Ohio; Tupelo, Mississippi; and Texarkana, Arkansas. American born and bred, Cooper continues their tradition of trusted heritage and excellent manufacturing. Today, more than 9,000 people work in Cooper facilities worldwide, and Cooper operates in more than one dozen countries around the world, helping to collectively move the business forward.
